The run out to Mahmutlar is the long haul on this coast. From the terminal the car joins the D400 and stays on it for 137 km, through the farmland behind Serik and Manavgat, along the shoreline, around the headland at Alanya and on until the buildings thin out into Mahmutlar. Allow 2-2.5 h in ordinary conditions. Sun Fire Beach Hotel sits directly on Sahil Yolu, the coast road running through the middle of the resort, so you are set down at the entrance rather than at a junction some way off.

On a drive of this length the fare is the thing worth pinning down before you fly, and ours is fixed in writing when you book. The Mercedes Vito seats up to six and starts at €95; a larger party goes in the eight-seat minivan, which holds up to eight, at €100. Each figure is for the vehicle, however many of you are sitting in it. Nothing is asked for in advance; the money is handed over once the car is standing outside the hotel, and dropping the booking costs nothing so long as we are told 4 hours ahead. WhatsApp carries the booking, any change to it and any question, 24/7.

A drive of 137 km is long enough that it is worth saying what happens in the middle of it. If anybody wants to stop, say so and the driver pulls into a roadside place so you can stretch your legs and find a drink, then carries on, with nothing added to the fare. The child seats are free, and they go into the car at the airport before you set off, so put the children's ages into the booking instead of leaving it until the cases are being loaded. Air conditioning runs the whole way, and the Vito's boot swallows tall cases, a pushchair and everything else a fortnight on the beach calls for.

The airport end needs nothing from you on the day. Put the flight number into the booking and we watch the aircraft itself, so a landing well behind schedule simply carries the pickup with it, and the 60 minutes of free waiting start running at touchdown rather than at the time printed on the ticket. A board with your surname on it is waiting in the arrivals hall, at whichever terminal the flight uses, and the driver takes the heaviest cases from you on the walk out to the vehicle. After that it is a single run east, with nobody else to collect.

Evening arrivals are common at Antalya, and Mahmutlar is far enough east that one of them turns into a night drive. It makes no difference to what you pay: there is no night rate, and the driver simply waits until you are through immigration. Board at Sun Fire Beach is all-inclusive, from the open buffet to the pool bar, so there is no shop to hunt for on the coast road when you get in, and the outdoor pool, the children's pool, the aqua park and the spa with its sauna will still be there after breakfast. For the flight home we count the 2-2.5 h of road, add the time your airline wants you at the desk, and fix a pickup from the hotel entrance over WhatsApp the evening before, at the fare you already hold.

Finding the driver in arrivals

There is nobody to telephone and no rank to join. Come through passport control, pick your cases off the belt, and in the hall outside a printed board is waiting with your surname on it; it works the same way at either terminal. We watch the flight number you sent us, so an early landing or a long delay moves the meeting with it, and a slow carousel or a queue at the booths eats into the 60 minutes of free waiting rather than into your pocket. The bags are loaded for you, and the run east begins from the car park.

What slows the coast road down

Almost the whole 137 km is one road, and it keeps close to the water once the farmland is behind it. In ordinary traffic that is 2-2.5 h. What moves the run within that range is predictable enough: summer afternoons bunch up where the D400 threads through Manavgat, the stretch at Alanya tightens between the sea and the hillside, and changeover Saturdays put more coaches on the road than any other day. None of it reaches the fare, because time lost in traffic is our cost rather than yours, which is the practical difference between a fixed price and a meter over a distance like this.

Vito or minivan, and where the luggage goes

Most parties bound for Sun Fire Beach travel in the Mercedes Vito, from €95, which carries six people with boot space left over for large cases and a pushchair. A family group, or a set of friends on one booking, does better in the eight-seat minivan at €100, because nobody then has to be split across two cars for 137 km, and that counts for far more here than on a short hop into Belek. Tell us the number of cases as well as the number of passengers, since luggage is usually what decides the vehicle. Either one takes free child seats, in whatever sizes you need.

Good to know for Sun Fire Beach Hotel

  • Book it as Sun Fire Beach Hotel on Sahil Yolu in Mahmutlar; some booking sites now list the same building as Sun Fire Beach Hotel By Julitat, so quote the street if you are asked to confirm the address.
  • Tell us the children's ages at the time of booking, because the free seats are sized to that and fitted before the car leaves the airport.
  • Ask for a comfort break at the start rather than halfway along, so the driver can pick a decent place on the D400 to pull in.
  • Count the cases before you settle on a vehicle: six people with a fortnight's luggage each sit more easily in the eight-seat minivan at €100 than in the Vito.
  • Fix the return over WhatsApp the night before, working 2-2.5 h of road back from the check-in time your airline has given you; cancelling still costs nothing 4 hours ahead.

Fixed fares from Sun Fire Beach Hotel

Both figures are for the whole vehicle, one way, agreed on WhatsApp before pickup. The return leg costs the same as the outbound one.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much is a transfer from Antalya Airport to Sun Fire Beach Hotel?

€95 is the Vito fare, for a vehicle seating up to six; the eight-seat minivan is €100. Both cover the car and everybody in it, both are confirmed in writing before you fly, and the homeward leg is charged at the same figure.

How long is the drive to Mahmutlar?

It is 137 km of coast road and 2-2.5 h when the road is clear. Summer traffic around Manavgat, and again where the highway squeezes through Alanya, can stretch that out, but the fare does not move with it.

Where do I meet the driver, and what if my flight is late?

The driver stands in the arrivals hall with a name board and takes the heavy bags as soon as you reach him; the terminal you land at makes no difference. Because the flight number comes to us with the booking, we know when you actually land, and the free waiting runs 60 minutes from that moment.

What happens if we land in the middle of the night?

Nothing changes. We work 24/7 and charge no night rate, and the run east is driven exactly as it is by day. Reception at Sun Fire Beach is staffed at any hour, so you are checked in whenever the car reaches the door.

Do you provide child seats, and will our luggage fit?

Yes to both. Child seats cost nothing and are fitted before you leave the airport, provided the ages reach us with the booking. The Vito at €95 holds six along with tall cases and a pushchair; the €100 minivan carries eight and their luggage.

How do I pay, and how is the return booked?

The driver is paid at the hotel, at the end of the run, with nothing taken when you book and no charge for cancelling provided you tell us 4 hours before the pickup. The return goes the same way: message us the departure time and we set a collection from the Sun Fire Beach entrance at the fare already agreed.
