Baia Lara draws couples and families who want the beach on the doorstep, and every car we send is van-class, since a day at the park means a pushchair or a bag full of aquapark towels. Where we meet you at Baia Lara

For a pre-booked transfer the car waits on the hotel's arrivals forecourt, in front of the main lobby doors of the Italian-styled tower, not down at the public Lara beach entrance below. Your driver holds a name-board so there is no guessing, and if you are still settling the bill he will wait rather than circle the block. Send a WhatsApp message when you are ten minutes from the lobby and he will pull up as you step outside, load the bags and be on the Kadriye road within a minute or two.

A day at the park for Baia Lara guests

Land of Legends packs a full day into one gate. The Hyper Coaster and the themed rides sit at the centre, the big aquapark runs from late spring to early autumn, and the free-to-walk Shopping Avenue gives you an aquarium and shade when the sun peaks. Families from Baia Lara who are used to an all-day beach rhythm tend to arrive by late morning, break for lunch on the Avenue and save the water park for the hot afternoon. Park tickets are from about £65 per person, bought separately from your transfer.

The night show and your ride back

The park saves its best for after dark, when the dancing fountains, coloured lights and the parade fill the central lake. It is worth staying for, and it does mean leaving with the crowd, so we plan the return around the finish rather than a fixed clock time.
