From Kundu to the park

From Kundu the driver heads north on Kundu Caddesi past the EXPO 2016 site, joins the D400 eastbound at the Aksu junction and stays on the dual carriageway for roughly ten kilometres before leaving it at the Belek–Kadriye junction and running south down Kadriye Yolu to the visitor car park. Door to gate is 22 km in 25 to 30 minutes. Only that D400 stretch is exposed to traffic, so the penalty in the 17:00 to 19:00 eastbound peak is 10 to 15 minutes at worst, and a morning departure meets none of it. Pickup is at your hotel reception, name board out, child seats already fitted.

Coming from Kundu you are committing to a full day, and the park rewards it. Arrive for the gates around 10:00 and take Aqua Land and the Tropic Lagoon family zone while the slide queues are short, then the new Waterfly Land tower before lunch. The Dolphin Land show is included with the ticket, Adventure Land keeps the dry coasters for the afternoon, and the indoor Nickelodeon sections carry you through the hottest hour or a rare wet spell. Sunbeds, umbrellas and rafts are free; towels are not supplied and lockers cost extra, so pack light. Under-4s enter free with ID, and no outside food is allowed.

Stay for the evening, because the best part is free: Shopping Avenue, the open-air mall along the canal, hosts the Musical Boat Parade, the Chimera Fountain water-light shows and the Wonder of Legends castle finale, usually in the evening — check the day's programme rather than plan around a fixed hour. For the return the driver waits on the car-park side pavement outside the main gate, the same spot as the drop-off. The exit takes 10 to 20 minutes to clear after the finale, so we set the pickup about 15 minutes after it ends; the D400 is empty at that hour and Kundu is 25 minutes away.

The arithmetic favours a booked car. €30, €40 or €50 buys the whole vehicle each way, agreed on WhatsApp before you travel, so a family of five pays €40 for a Vito and the children change nothing. A metered taxi from the Kundu ranks runs the same 22 km on the clock, and the clock keeps turning in the slow queue out of the car park after the finale. Kundu hotels rarely run their own shuttle to this park, and excursion coaches sell seats to a timetable that leaves before the evening shows finish. A private transfer simply waits until the finale has actually ended.
