About this tour
Saklikent (Hidden City) is an 18 km gorge cut into the Akdağlar mountains, with a narrow river running through it cold enough to numb your feet in summer. Wooden walkways take you into the canyon mouth where you can wade and scramble further in. Combined with Patara — 18 km of empty golden sand backed by ancient Lycian dunes — this is a Turkey of two extremes in one day.
The drive is long (around 4 hours each way) so an early start is essential. Most guests find this a once-in-a-lifetime memory and worth the long day.

Frequently asked questions
Is the Saklikent walk easy?
The first 1 km is on wooden walkways — easy. Beyond that you wade through cold water on a slippery river bed. Water shoes recommended (rented at the entrance). Children love it.
Why is Patara famous?
Three reasons: 18 km of empty sand (one of the longest beaches in the Mediterranean), the birthplace of St Nicholas, and important Lycian ruins including a senate building, theatre and lighthouse.
