The day starts at Sunmelia's own entrance, where the car can wait off the road while swim bags and sun cream go into the boot. From Kızılağaç the driver takes the coast road west, past the turnings for Manavgat and Side and on through Çolaklı, before the Kadriye exit for the park. It is 45 km and 40–50 min of straightforward driving, and the themed gates come into view at the end of it.
Booking the fare in advance is what keeps a park day predictable. Ours is settled before the car leaves the hotel: the Mercedes Vito, the entry vehicle, takes up to six from €55, and a minivan for up to eight is €70. The figure covers the whole car, in either direction, and there is no surcharge for a late return after the evening show. Payment is in cash to the driver, in euros, dollars or lira, and someone answers the phone 24/7 if your plan shifts during the day.
Sunmelia has a mini club, a children's pool and a slide pool of its own, so the park simply carries on where the hotel leaves off. A Mercedes Vito holds parents, children, a pushchair and the damp towels that come back from the aquapark, and its sliding door is easier on tired legs at the end of the day. Families travelling together take the minivan instead and keep everyone in a single vehicle. Seats and boosters for children cost nothing; put the ages in your WhatsApp message and they are in place when the car arrives.
Where the car waits at Sunmelia
The driver comes into the hotel's own grounds and stops at the main entrance beside reception, holding a name board. The door there is step-free and there are ramps alongside, so a pushchair or a cool bag on wheels goes straight to the car. Give your surname when you book, and a WhatsApp message over breakfast is enough to bring the car forward. There is no need to walk out to the public road, and the hotel car park means the vehicle is not blocking anyone while you load.
A day inside the park
The rides fill the morning, with the Hyper Coaster the one the older children queue for, and from late spring to early autumn the aquapark takes over the afternoon. The aquarium and the length of Shopping Avenue are open without a park ticket, which gives grandparents who would rather not ride anything somewhere to pass an hour. Children who have spent the week in Sunmelia's own slide pool tend to head for the water first.
After the fountains, the road back east
Nobody is hurried out at the end. The driver is parked nearby and charges nothing for the wait, however long the evening runs, so there is no reason to leave a show half-watched or to bolt an ice cream. Once your message goes, the car comes round to the gate, and the 40–50 min east along the coast usually passes with a child asleep in the back.
Night-show tip: The parade, the dancing fountains and the castle finale take place on Shopping Avenue, outside the ticket gates, so nobody needs a park ticket to watch them. A family can stay on Sunmelia's beach until late afternoon, drive across for dinner and still see the show. Message on WhatsApp as the crowd starts to break up and the driver is at the gate about 15 minutes later.
